A calm folk song on growing distance in a relationship. Serendipiti's soft vocals show her desire to fix things, without increasing the gap.
The delicacy of the vocals and guitar when the song starts calms our mind and body. This allows for a nice, subtle, and slow build-up to a crescendo in each new section. In the pre-chorus, we hear the introduction of some kick drums, followed by vocal harmonies and a little riff on the piano. The second verse introduces some strings. This slow and steady build-up to a crescendo in the bridge is very effective, giving us a false sense of security with the calm and melodic vocals and subtle instrumentation.
“Let's risk it, would you go the distance? At least just say you'll try. Cause I've missed this, and I can't resist it. And I don't want to have to say goodbye."
The slow build-up then explodes in the bridge, with the instrumentation and vocals speeding up to a whirlwind of thoughts, all conveyed through Serendipiti's vocals and music. This is very effective as we are drawn in to focus on her message of not allowing the distance in their relationship to grow. She urges them to throw caution to the wind and give the relationship a try before discarding it.
