The upbeat, soulful track with sultry vocals by Bea Maher captures the theme of seeing someone else with your ex at your usual local spot.
Local is the song none of us realised we needed to get over someone and move on. Bea's use of melody to draw you into the lyrics is beautifully designed. The vocals have a sultry and strong feeling behind them, showing that you can move forward without your ex. It may be difficult to see them at your local spot, but you can always move on. Bea's overdubbed vocals of 'Get Out of my Head' and 'You Made Your Bed' show that no matter how much they've hurt you, wanting to forget about them is a powerful feeling to experience and helps you move on.
“You moved on, I'm still trying to. Stupid little lies I've been fed about you. Can't get you out of my head, but I'mma keep on trying."
The instrumentation, like Bea's past releases, captures a modern interpretation of Soul. It is a perfect mix of instruments that emphasise this track, allowing the brass, guitars, bass, and drums to have space to provide support while letting the vocals take the limelight. There are clearly bittersweet emotions behind this song, but it gives us all a song to listen to in difficult times when moving on from someone we've stood by for a long time.
